Taos County Misdiagnosis Attorneys

Representing Victims of Medical Malpractice in Taos

When you visit a doctor, you trust that they will accurately diagnose your condition and provide appropriate treatment. Unfortunately, doctors and other medical professionals make mistakes. When they do, the results can be devastating. A misdiagnosis or a delayed diagnosis can allow a medical condition to worsen and become untreatable. In some cases, a misdiagnosis can even cause a new medical condition to develop. If you or a loved one has suffered harm because of a misdiagnosis, you may be entitled to compensation. Our Taos County misdiagnosis attorneys at James Wood Law are here to help.

What is Misdiagnosis?

When a doctor incorrectly diagnoses a patient’s medical condition, this is known as a “misdiagnosis.” A misdiagnosis can occur in several different ways. In some cases, a doctor may fail to diagnose a condition that is present. In other cases, a doctor may diagnose a patient with a condition that they do not have. Finally, a doctor may diagnose a patient with the wrong medical condition.

Misdiagnosis can lead to some complications, including:

  • Delayed Treatment: If a condition is misdiagnosed, the patient may receive treatment for a different ailment or may not receive any treatment at all. This delay can allow the actual condition to progress, potentially leading to more severe symptoms and complications.
  • Unnecessary Treatment: On the flip side, misdiagnosis may result in unnecessary treatments, medications, or surgeries. This can expose patients to potential side effects, financial burdens, and added stress without addressing the root cause of their health issues.
