I had a need for a malpractice attorney and tried many different law offices that advertise on the internet until I found James Wood. I was amazed that I immediately got to speak with Attorney Arslan Umarov. He was incredible-an outstanding human being, an amazing lawyers, a devoted husband and father, and a great son. His father, Sanjar Umarov, was in prison for four years for political reasons, and Arslan fought and successfully obtained his father's release after a long battle. With an impressive track record, he handled my case like no other lawyer. He worked extremely hard with great strategy, found the best expert witnesses, and took very helpful depositions. He is not afraid to go to trial.
Being the son of lawyers, the brother of two, and the father of one, Arslan is an impressive lawyer. The results I achieved were due to having the greatest malpractice law firm in New Mexico. They have a well-deserved reputation for wining and winning big.
As a physician myself, I know that without the Woods Law Firm and Arslan Umarov, I wouldn't have achieved the amazing results he got for me. If you need a personal injury attorney, this office is the one you need.

What is Medical Malpractice?
Medical malpractice occurs when a healthcare professional or facility provides care that falls below the accepted medical standard, resulting in harm to the patient. Simply put, it’s a failure to meet the level of care that a competent professional in the same field would have likely provided in the same situation, especially when that failure hurts a patient in some way.
Usually, success in a medical malpractice claim requires the plaintiff to prove the following four elements:
- Duty: The medical provider owed a duty of care to the patient, which usually exists in a doctor-patient relationship.
- Breach: The medical provider breached that duty by failing to act according to the accepted standard of care.
- Causation: The provider’s negligence caused harm or injury to the patient.
- Damages: The patient suffered measurable harm, whether physical, emotional, or financial, that can be compensated.
